Are You Among the Faithful Few?
While reading in Revelation chapter three today, something really stood out to me. It's as if although I've read it many times, it just leaped off of the page (don't you love it when that happens)! In verses 7-13, the Lord is speaking to the church in Philadelphia. In the margin of my bible I have written, "the faithful church."
Faithful to what?
Faithful to Christ and His teachings.
Our Lord commends this church for guarding His Word and keeping His message and not renouncing or denying His name (Revelation 3:8 AMP). I think this is interesting considering the time in which we are living where more people seemed to be more concerned with hearing messages on prosperity than they do of self-sacrifice. We are warned so many times in the scriptures about false teachers who will,"secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them..." (2Pet 2:1). Our Lord, when asked by the disciples what would be the signs of His coming and the end of the age, the first thing He said was, "Watch out that no one deceives you" (Matt 24:4). We are living in the age of deception. Their are few pastors that teach sound doctrine...and even fewer people who want to hear it. What does that say about us as Christians?
