Fun Autumn Glyph for Kids

Recently during a mom's meeting at my home the kids made the following autumn glyphs.  What is a glyph?  It is a symbol that conveys a message or information nonverbally.  This is a great way for kids to learn data collection and learn how to interpret information.  Below are the directions for creating this glyph:

Follow the directions below to create your own personal Wreath Glyph

Age:
Yellow Leaves - Count out your age and paste that many Yellow Leaves on your wreath

Girl/Boy:
  • Girl – If you are a girl put 3 green leaves on your wreath
  • Boy – If you are a boy put 4 green leaves on your wreath
Birthday:
  • If you were born in January, February, March, April, May, or June put 3 red leaves on your wreath.
  • If you were born in July, August, September, October, November, or December put 4 red leaves on your wreath.

Right/Left Handed:

  • If you are right handed cut out an orange circle to fill in the center of your plate.
  • If you are left handed cut out a red circle to fill in the center of your plate.

Seasons:
If your favorite season is fall or winter hang the following verse from your wreath:
 "They do not say to themselves, 'Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.'"  - Jeremiah 5:24

If your favorite season is spring or summer hang the following verse from your wreath:
Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains." - James 5:7 NIV

Favorite Color Autumn Leave:
Get a Leaf Printout and color it the shade of your favorite autumn leaves (brown, red, orange, etc…)
